An attestation is a signed statement by an issuer about a subject. It lives in the subject's own vault and anyone can verify it offline — no server owns your standing. The Signal Score is always returned decomposed: what you claim and what others verify, reported side by side, never summed into one flattering number.

Honest sharp edges

Issuer identity is a separate problem

Verification proves the holder of key K signed this — not that K is the real Atlas. The forgery probe catches the wrong key, but name-squatting and Sybil issuers need a key directory, web-of-trust, or on-chain anchor. The signature alone does not solve trust.

Revocation isn't built yet

An attestation, once signed, verifies forever. Real systems need revocation — an issuer publishes a revocation, or attestations carry an expiry and are re-anchored. Designed-for, not done.

Weights are illustrative

self-asserted:1 / anchored:3 / mesh-verified:5 are placeholders. The point isn't the numbers — it's that the total is always shown broken into them, so no weighting can hide inside a black box.

The opposite of a credit score: you hold the evidence, anyone can check it, and the math is always in the open. What others verify about you, and what you claim about yourself, sit side by side — and never pretend to be the same thing.
