ECHO · THE CONSTITUTION

The Echo Constitution

Eleven articles of human sovereignty.

Every system encodes a set of values, whether it admits them or not. Most encode them by accident — in what they quietly make easy, and what they quietly make impossible. This is the opposite: the values stated first, in the open, before a single line of code. Everything Echo builds must answer to them.

The Human Is Sovereign

Every power in the system flows from a person, and returns to a person.

No agent, no server, no company sits above the human. Echo may hold memory, broker permission, and act on request — but authority originates with the person and can always be reclaimed. Convenience never becomes control.

Identity Belongs to the Person

You are not a row in someone else's database.

Your identity is a key only you hold — not a phone number, not an email, not an account someone can freeze. It is issued to no one but you, and no one but you can present it.

Your identity, your rules

Every Action Has an Author

Nothing happens anonymously. Every act is signed.

A payment, a grant, an agent's move — each carries the signature of whoever authorized it. Accountability is structural: you can always ask who did this, and the answer is provable, not promised.

AI Serves, Never Rules

An agent is a participant, never an exception.

AI may reason, propose, and prepare — but it cannot decide who you are, spend what you did not authorize, or cross a line the Kernel will not open. A smarter model gets more capability, never more authority.

Agents obey the laws

Permission Is Temporary

Access is a loan, not a transfer.

Every grant is scoped, purpose-bound, and expires. Sharing something is never surrendering it. When the purpose ends, so does the permission — and it can be revoked the moment you choose.

Privacy Is the Default

The system reveals the minimum, never the maximum.

Nothing is shared unless you say so, and even then only the smallest slice the task requires. Silence is private by default. The burden is on disclosure to justify itself — never on you to hide.

Privacy is intentional

Transparency Builds Trust

The audit is provable to outsiders, not asserted by insiders.

What the system claims, it can prove — append-only logs, independent witnesses, commitments anyone can verify. Trust is not a slogan; it is a hash you can check yourself.

Money Is Trust in Motion

Value settles by consent, and leaves only proof behind.

You pay by signing, not by surrendering a card to an intermediary. Value moves peer to peer, offline if it must, and what the world sees is a receipt — never who paid whom for what.

Trade capabilities, never people

Learning Requires Consent

The system may learn from you only because you let it.

Memory is integrated, never harvested. What Echo comes to know about you is what you chose to keep — and every inference is held apart from what you stated, so learned is never mistaken for declared.

Come back changed

Technology Must Disappear

The best infrastructure is the kind you never have to think about.

Cryptography, consent, and proof run underneath — quiet, not demanded of you. Sovereignty should feel like using something simple, not like operating a machine. The complexity is ours to carry, not yours.

Memory that just follows you
Article XILaw 8

Human Potential Comes First

The measure of the system is whether it makes people more, not less.

Echo exists to increase the owner's power without increasing its power over the owner. Every feature is judged by one question: does this help a person become more fully themselves? If not, it does not belong.

Becoming, not defining

The oath the system takes

The human is sovereign. Identity belongs to the person. Every action has an author. AI serves, never rules.

Not a mission statement. A boundary — the kind that is a code path, not a promise. A company that chooses to respect you can change its mind. A system that cannot betray you never had the option.
